Decency turned up to 11 ...

We've noted in the past that the Decent Left's opposition to "realism" in international relations (because cough, mumble, Douglas Hurd) often shades into a rejection of reality, but I don't think I've ever seen it quite as stark as this Times editorial.

What do the people of Zimbabwe need? If you answered "more sanctions, no electric power, a collapse of the government and Robert Mugabe solely in charge", well done.

Times leader: "Tsvangirai and the West must stand up to the dictator’s continuing abuse of power"

Reality: Tsvangirai must stand up to the dictator's continuing abuse of power, and when the opposition has to deal with another crackdown and Zimbabwe collapses, we will sit on our arses and Twitter about it."

Reading it, it seems like Kammsturbation of the highest order, no?

Decency is basically a species of Internet Tough Guy Syndrome, isn't it? I should have noticed this before, but the (so far) lone comment on that article makes the connection so clear.
