Jonathan Freedland for, as they say, the win

"... noting that Kaminski is a friend of Israel. But, as the foreign editor of the Jewish Chronicle has argued persuasively , that doesn't say much – not in an era when Nick Griffin insists he too is a supporter of Israel. Indeed, "I'm a supporter of Israel" is fast becoming the 21st-century version of "Some of my best friends are Jewish" ..."

Liberal Conspiracy has a post on How Tory staffers are astro-turfing leftwing blogs. You won’t be surprised to hear that the comment was typically of the “so what?” kind that sought to play down Michal Kaminski’s background. This story is no longer about whether the Tories should ever have befriended Kaminski, but whether they have any strategic sense. So far, they're not showing evidence of any.
Can anyone explain what the point of this post (Harry's Place) is? Is Anthony Julius being denounced in some dog whistle way that I'm not subtle enough to understand?
I think the post is meant to be a vague attack on the BBC for assuming Julius would want a copy of the Torah instead of the King James Bible. Can't help thinking that if they'd offered the bible they'd be equally 'at fault' in HP Sauce eyes.
Still seems a bit weak though - I think the main reason is that Julius is an HP Sauce hero (hardline Zionist, hates 'independent Jewish Voices', spots antisemitism everywhere - especially in criticism of Israeli policies, offers Euston Manifesto free office space).
Desert Island Discs is not, and never has been, available on iplayer. HP Sauce's commitment to rigorous research strikes again.

It sticks in my craw to defend HP Saucers but, Desert Island Discs used not to be available on iplayer - but is now.

oh dear - cheers for the clarification.
HP Sauce are already rubbishing the dispatches report btw. The Bicom statement they have up there at the moment is a bit odd, though...
Tony Greenstein has written a sizeable piece on this matter here
and here.
Good Lord, it's Lorna Fitzsimons. Did everybody know this except me? Why am I not surprised?
