Anti-Americanism?
I thought we needed a pre-weekend post, and this will do as well as anything. Israel's right wing starts its own Tea Party.
Via.
Hating Bush = Anti-Americanism. Hating Obama = exercising one's democratic right to dissent. Or something. Barking mad leftist, conspiracy-theory spinning, Blair-haters may suspect that there's just a teeny bit of racism going on here. I'm sure that rational people (eg David Aaronovitch) could poopoo such a voodoo idea in a trice.
According to Michael Kleiner, a former Likud legislator who is one of the driving forces behind the movement, Mr Obama's policies towards Israel resemble the British attitudes in eighteenth century America that caused the original Boston Tea Party.

O/T chuckles.
So he's saying Israel's an American colony? In a sense it is a satellite of the American empire like various other middle eastern countries, but he's getting a bit carried away.

So perhaps Israel should declare its independence from the US?
There's also a tea party in the UK started by that Tory libertarian Euro MP bloke. They had a real tea party in Brighton a few months ago, in a rather nice boutique hotel off the sea front. So just like the original tea party then.

That would have been brilliant if it was intended to take the piss. Of course, in that case it would have been played totally straight, so I'm almost inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. But, given who's involved, not quite.
It's also what the witches do in Roald Dahl's book, pretty much. In Brighton, anyway.
