Nick's Back!!

Oh yes he is! (see comments to post below; thanks to anonymous user).

So, Friday forecasts:

Nick, Sunday: Even money, Euston Manifesto or local elections

Aaro: surely it can't be another week on "the rise of the BNP" I think it can

Nick, Standard: Also, rise of the BNP. perhaps with a "blame the middle class left" angle, perhaps not. I'm going for the tricast on this one.

I think Nick is a cert to wax lyrical on 'white anger' this weekend, perhaps with ref. to his time reporting on the Handsworth riots for the Birmingham Mail.

Nick had better be bloody careful if he writes the Darfur column because the peace treaty has now actually been signed! The only holdouts are the Sudan Justice & Equality Movement, so Nick has a decent (Decent) chance of finding himself inadvertantly supporting Islamist terrorists who are going to be the subject of sanctions by the USA.

BB, Nick would only use that as a proof that he's not a neo-con, that he is independent of the US (and willing to criticise it).

I almost checked the EM, then I thought, no fuck it, I can't be arsed, but what was it they said about Guantanamo not being up to the usual standard of care given to political prisoners? He'll probably repeat that. Oops the US did it again, or something.

Nick's anti-anti-American, so if he criticises the US, it must mean the US (or some low-level flunkey) is wrong. You are anti-American (you must be, you haven't signed the EM), ergo you have an ulterior motive for agreeing with them.

Geras posted a reply to criticisms of that passage here. I can't make head nor tail of it, it appears to be something to do with sucking one's thumb, but he doesn't seem that keen to defend the relevant paragraph itself.
