get well soon

Nick is sick (presumably it's something quite nasty as the Standard col didn't appear this week), and rerunning things from the archives. The fact that he's ill doesn't make his piece in the New Humanist about Paul Berman any better, but we actually quite like the old curmudgeon and he has our best wishes for a speedy recovery.

"New Humanist Article"- for a blog which purports to be a "Nick Cohen Watch" you've not really been on the ball. That article (which worked for me- I bought the book and read it on the beach in summer) has been around for ages. It's previously appeared on the "Labour Friends of Iraq" site, and started off on Normblog as "writers choice", back in July...do keep up!
Norm is likely to be our guest on Little Atoms next friday by the way, if you want to make the already hilarious name of your blog even longer (wink)

I think that's what "rerunning things from the archive" means, bagrec. The "New" refers to the magazine's title.

Poor old Bagrec. Poor reading comprehension. No wonder he supports war.

I don't understand; it's listed on Nick's site as "New Humanist" with a publication date of last week. I presume that "New Humanist" mag didn't pay enough to have a new article written.

The site title is actually a reference to that of the Evening Standard (incorporating the Evening News), with NC in brackets because he's not as important as Aaro; I explained the joke in a post about six months ago.

Geras is apparently a nice bloke, although if I had to criticise him I'd say he is a little over-prone to making ludicrous accusations that people are fascists when they aren't. I'm unlikely to start watching him because I don't really give a fuck about country and western music but if any of the other bruschettarati want to and know how to change the site title then go for your life.

Maybe we should turn the site into "Resonance FM Watch"

oh hang on, either he's changed the date or I misread it; it now says "September 2005", so sorry. I'm not Watching hits from the archives since Nick can obviously produce them at a faster rate than we can Watch them.

The only thing you need to know about Geras is that he refers to Christopher Hitchens as 'The Dude'.

For the record, the article originally appeared on Norm, and NH picked it up for the Sept issue. NH occassionally run features centred around books, and it was felt that this was a good choice, as it put a case that many readers seem to be unfamiliar with (not spending all their time trawling through blogs and engaging in low-level columnist stalking).

The brit blogs are too
domimated By the "pro war Left" including this one
how trying this blog out
http://ftssoldier.blogspot.com

The "pro war Left" only supports the Iraq war because of the oil and is concerned of Britains overall strategic position as regards other powers such as Russia and China.

Laim, I suspect you're a spammer; I'm certain you're a troll. In either case I shouldn't rise, but I shall all the same.

This isn't a "pro war" blog, left or otherwise. Speaking only for myself, I'm anti- The Iraq Venture (or whatever we're calling it this week), but I am concerned about the future of my country. The "Pro War Left" does not support the war because of oil, unless Harry and Co, Norm, the DSTfW, David Aaronovitch, Nick Cohen, and many, many others have been flawlessly economical with the actualite for the past two and half years.

Now piss off, and I if I find a way to edit comments, I'll delete your url and leave your demented mis-spelled ramblings to speak for themselves.

I think aaro's latest (on immigration) is another subtle hint to Nick. He refers to Polly Toynbee as his soul-sister but opposed to mass immigration because of its impact on the unskilled poor, which I think actually misrepresents her point, and in any case would surely be better made by reference to Nick, and his infamous Evening Standard piece?

Hi Dave, if you want to be able to edit posts and ban trolls you should shift over to haloscan comments.
